A note from Mark Bendall-Jones

'Hello! I’m Mark, 47 year old father of 6 and husband to Gemma. Professionally I am a transport manager (trucks) and in my down time I mainly like to be outdoors with the family. We live in Criccieth, on the High Street, above Y Nyth (The Nest), a community space we make accessible to all.

I came to faith about 14 years ago and have spent my time since then trying to live life as Jesus modeled it. This has been both fun and challenging, with lots of opportunities to excel and muck up at the same time! I am far from perfect, but I like to respond where I feel directed by Holy Spirit. I am honest about where this journey leads me and what it looks like. Despite my best attempts to mess it up at times, I know that God has a plan.

 

Pastor Ben has encouraged me to head up the Men’s ministry (I guess I qualify on at least one level!). My hope is to facilitate a time of growth and exploration beyond  bacon butties and nice-ities. I want to encourage us as men to look at Biblical masculinity, particularly our need for adventure. Are the safe cocoons we work so hard to create for ourselves good for us?

 

Our studies together will be based around a book called ‘Wild at Heart’ by John Eldredge. The clincher in his book was this statement,

‘Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go and do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive’.

I feel this is a great thing for us to reach for.'
